Naomi O. Dakken
March 24, 1916 - September 10, 2009

Naomi O. Dakken, 93, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died on Thursday, September 10, 2009, at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills, Iowa.

A daughter of Oliver and Nelsine (Stene) Honsey, Naomi Olive Dakken, was born on March 24, 1916, on a farm near Lake Mills, in Winnebago County, Iowa. Baptized and confirmed at the Lime Creek Synod Lutheran Church, she attended Lime Creek Christian Day School and Lake Mills High School. On February 10, 1935, she married Harlan Neville (Bud) Dakken. To their union, three children were born, David, Doris, and Dana.

A kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Naomi, also, played an active role in the Lake Mills Synod Church. In addition, she worked for several Lake Mills businesses and with her husband. She and Bud loved to travel and took many trips.

Naomi is survived by their three children, Doris Peterson, of Mankato, Minnesota, David Dakken, and his wife, Mary, of Forest City, Iowa, and Dana Dakken, of Lake Mills, Iowa; eight grandchildren: Lori (Archie) Benike; Rhonda (Tim) Clark; Nathan, Tim (Kim), and Todd (Kim) Dakken; Scott (Dolly) and Thomas Peterson; and Susan (Greg) Spellacy; thirteen great grandchildren, Ethan and Joseph Benike; Mackenzie Clark; Joseph, Joshua, Katie, and Megan Dakken; Sarah Johnson; Alexander, Julian, and Riley Peterson; and Aaron and Joshua Spellacy; a brother, Rudolph Honsey, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Mankato, Minnesota; a sister, Barbara Chrz, of Albert Lea, Minnesota; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Haes, of Garner, Iowa; along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud; two brothers, Conrad and Joseph; and a sister, Thelma Dahl.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday, September 14, 2016, at the Lake Mills Evangelical Lutheran Synod Church in Lake Mills, Iowa, with Rev. Samuel Schmeling officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Lime Creek (Iowa) Cemetery near Lake Mills, Iowa.
