Dorothy Elizabeth Wubben
May 16, 1927 - August 24, 2016

Dorothy E. Wubben, age 89, of rural Leland, Iowa, died on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at her home.

Dorothy Elizabeth (Kramer) Wubben, a daughter of Victoria Kramer, was born on May 16, 1927, in Bancroft, Iowa. Baptized at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bancroft, she made her first communion there as well. Moreover, she attended St. John’s Catholic School. After completing the 8th grade, she, then, stayed home to help take care of her ailing grandmother.

On August 23, 1946, Dorothy married John Boeckholt in Algona, Iowa. To their union, four children were born: Alan, Victoria, Randy, and Sandra. The family made their home in Bancroft, Rolfe, and Swea City, Iowa. After John died in January, 1969, Dorothy and the two youngest children moved to Buffalo Center.

On August 23, 1972, Dorothy married Wayne Wubben in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They lived in a few different places in North Iowa before making their current place “home” in 1986.

Immeasurably proud of her role as a homemaker, Dorothy was always caring for her children, cooking and baking for them, gardening and decorating to make her home inviting, and working hard to set an example for them to follow. She enjoyed canning vegetables, growing flowers, taking walks in the country, and watching soaps on TV. Dorothy will be remembered for her very intricate egg diorama art and wonderfully decorated sugar cookies.

She will be missed by her husband, Wayne Wubben, of Leland, Iowa; her sons, Alan (Judy) Boeckholt, of Buffalo Center, Iowa, and Randy (Laura) Boeckholt of Forest City, Iowa; her son-in-law, Marty Jutting, of Lake Mills, Iowa; nine grandchildren: Brooke, Jennifer, Jon, Kelli, Kris, Stacie, Tara, Tony, and Troy; twenty-five great-grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; a sister-in-law, Katie Kramer, of Bancroft, Iowa; a nephew, Kenny Kramer; and a niece, Linda (Bob) Seal.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother, Victoria; her husband, John Boeckholt; two daughters, Sandra Boeckholt and Victoria Jutting; her brother, Francis Kramer; and her niece, Kay.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Leland with Lay Minister Rose Visser officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Forest City, Iowa. Visitation will be on Friday, August 26, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, in Lake Mills, and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, 232 2nd Street SE, Mason City, Iowa 50401, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
