Pastor Jason F. Mekelburg, 44, of Hillsdale, Michigan, left his earthly body and entered into the glory of Heaven on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at the University of Michigan Medical Center.

Born on August 24, 1971, in Fort Morgan, Colorado, to Gary and Linda (Meyer) Mekelburg, Jason graduated from Forest City High School in Iowa and from Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota. He earned a Master’s of Divinity from Denver Seminary. On July 22, 1995, he married Lorissa Cox. For the last nine and one-half years, he had served as Pastor of the College Baptist Church. With a servant’s leadership heart, he proudly served his church and community.

In addition to his wife, Lorissa, Jason is survived by his four children: Lauryn, Joel, Meghan, and Alyssa Mekelburg; his father, Gary (Marcia) Mekelburg, of Casa Grande, Arizona; his mother, Linda Mekelburg, of Forest City, Iowa; his brother, Matt (Elizabeth) Mekelburg, of Arlington, Washington; his father- and mother-in-law, Dave (Lorna) Cox, of Littleton, Colorado, and three sisters-in-law: Kristi, Cherie, Amanda and their families.

A Celebration of Life Service for Pastor Jason Mekelburg will be held Friday, June 10, 2016, at 3:00 PM at the College Baptist Church in Hillsdale. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to an education fund for Jason's children.
