Michael John Jamtgaard, age 52, died on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at his home in Lake Mills.

Miike was born on February 3, 1964, in Mason City, Iowa, to Orval and Jeanine (Jones) Jamtgaard. Baptized at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Mike attended and then graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1982.

Next, Mike worked at Winnebago Industries and Budget Building before beginning his current job at Larson Manufacturing in Lake Mills.

In 1985, Mike married Diane Zeran. They had one son, Joseph, before their marriage ended in divorce. In 1997, Mike wed Lois Brackey. They, subsequently, became the parents of Samantha and Christopher before they, too, divorced.

“Jammer” had three main hobbies which included blacksmithing with his grandfather, camping, and fishing. An active member of the Lake Mills Fire Department since 2000, he enjoyed the company of the other members as well.

Preceded in death by his grandparents, Jammer is survived by Carol Weaver and her son, Aaron, of Lake Mills; his three children, Joseph (Jackie) Jamtgaard, Samantha Jamtgaard, and Christopher Jamtgaard, also all of Lake Mills; his mother, Jeanine Jamtgaard, of Mason City, Iowa; his father, Gene (Jan) Jamtgaard, Jr., of West Plaines, Missouri; his brother Mark (Carmen) Jamtgaard, his niece, Katherine, and his nephew, Zephyr, all of Britt, Iowa; as well as by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Sion Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, with Rev. Steven Bang officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Garner, Iowa. A memorial visitation will take place on Friday, July 1, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
