July 25, 1925 - June 19, 2016

Elaine A. Aamodt, age 90, died on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at her home in Lake Mills.

Elaine Ardella (Thompson) Aamodt was born on July 25, 1925, to Horace and Caroline (Maakestad) Thompson of Leland, Iowa.

Baptized at Winnebago Lutheran Church and confirmed at Concordia Church by Reverend L.F. Scheie, she graduated from Joice High School and then attended Waldorf College. Next, she worked at the 1st National Bank in Mason City until she married Orian Jerome Aamodt at Concordia Lutheran Church on March 16, 1948. They, then, farmed west of Lake Mills for forty years. At the same time, she, also, spent twenty-three spent working in the City Clerk’s Office before she and her husband retired with in 1990. The two eventually moved into Lake Mills, putting them closer to family and friends.

An active member of Salem Lutheran Church for over sixty-eight years, Elaine participated in the church circle and WELCA. Not one to sit idly by, she, also, attended exercise classes at the Senior Center and played cards, Dominoes, and Farkle with her friends. In her youth, she enjoyed Country Cousins, square dancing, and teaching Sunday school. In addition, she loved hosting the family's annual July Jubilee get together as well as spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Orian; her parents, Horace and Caroline; her sister-in-law, Virgene Johnson; and her brothers-in-law, Arnold Halverson, Orlando Olson, Lynn Ramsey, Carrol Aamodt, and DeVere Steffenson.

She is survived by her two sons, Jan (Jaki) Aamodt, of Shoreview, Minnesota, and Paul (Teresa) Aamodt, of Lake Park, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Brian, Jana, and Travis (Alex) Aamodt; Carlin (Adam) Byrne; and Ashley (Matt) Midthun; and two great-grandchildren, Ela and Benjamin; two sisters, Norma Ramsey and Mavis (Halvorson) Olson; a brother-in-law, Don (Faye) Aamodt; and her sisters-in-law, Clarine Steffenson and Manis Aamodt; as well as by many other friends and loved ones.

Elaine will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by those closest to her.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with Pastor Joel L. Guttormson officiating. Inurnment will be in Salem Memorial Cemetery.
