Jacqueline Kay Joynt
September 23, 1953 - May 26, 2016

Jacqueline Kay (Jordahl) Joynt, 62, of Rake, passed away on May 26, 2016, at her home with her husband and children by her side after a year-long battle with ovarian cancer.

Her family will greet friends on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Buffalo Center, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, with a wake service to follow. A memorial Mass will be offered at 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Buffalo Center.

The youngest of the six Jordahl children, Jackie was born on September 23, 1953, in Buffalo Center, to Fredrick and Elmira (Brekke) Jordahl. Baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Rake, she attended and then graduated from Rake Community School in 1971. Next, she attended Nurses Training at Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg. While there, she met Bob; they married on November 18, 1972. Their first child, Jeremy Robert, was born prematurely on March 27, 1973, and did not survive. They were, later, blessed with three healthy children, Melissa, Ryan, and Jon.

After living in a few different places, they settled in Rake, Jackie’s hometown, where they have lived for the last thirty-eight years. Jackie stayed home with the kids (and cared for a few extras) while the kids were little. At the same time, she worked with Bob as they built their own business. Once the kids were attending school, she went to work at the Haugen Insurance Agency. Later, she obtained her insurance license, and continued with the agency after the Winnebago Mutual Insurance Agency had taken it over. She retired in the spring of 2016 because of her failing health.

A dedicated employee who enjoyed her position and the friends who joined her for coffee each day, Jackie, also, had a great passion for community. Active in the Community Club, she participated extensively in their activities throughout the years. Moreover, she played an instrumental role in planning the Rake all school reunion held last August. Also very active at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Buffalo Center, she served on many committees and groups in addition to teaching CCD classes for many years. She had a huge heart and was, always, willing to help anyone in need. As a result, many came to know and value her warm spirit and loving nature.

Bob and Jackie celebrated 43 years of marriage last fall. They enjoyed their trips together and spent time with their many wonderful friends.

Jackie absolutely loved being a grandma. She attended many games, musicals, recitals, and concerts and famously shared humorous stories and accomplishments of her grandchildren to everyone she knew. She was even known to offer seconds on ice cream cones.

Jackie is survived by her husband, Bob, her daughter, Melissa (Matt) Duve, of Rake, her sons, Ryan (Melissa) Joynt, of Lake Mills, and Jon (Jessica) Joynt, of Grimes; nine grandchildren: Emma, William, and Jack Duve; and Ayden, Dylan, Emmett, Jadyn, Jackson, and Keely Joynt; her brothers, Burton (Mary) Jordahl, of Buffalo Center, Eugene Jordahl, of Algona, and Richard (Darlene) Jordahl, of Albert Lea, Minnesota; her sister, Janice (Ted) Wiedenman, of Des Moines; her brothers-in-law, Gerald Joynt, of Clear Lake, and Clem Joynt, of Emmetsburg; and her sister-in-law, Mary (Bob) Johnson, of Shafer, Minnesota; as well as by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and very close friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jeremy; her parents, Fredrick and Elmira Jordahl; one brother, Royce Jordahl; her father- and mother-in-law, Earl and Rosella Joynt; and other much loved family members.
