Wayne M. Urban, 85, died peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2016, at the Muse Norris Hospice Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

Wayne M. Urban, a son of Charles and Florence Emma (Arrsmith) Urban. was born on July 20, 1930, in Larrabee, Iowa. He graduated from Larrabee High School in 1948.

On June 25, 1949, he married Bonnie Elsbury in Boise, Idaho. After they moved to Lake Mills in 1962, Wayne served as Lake Mills City Clerk for fifteen years, joined the Asbury United Methodist Church, and served as director of Elderbridge Agency on Aging. In additon, he loved to tinker and fix things with his hands. Indeed, he could fix anything. Moreover, while working on his various projects, he, always, had a game on, either the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Minnesota Twins, the Vikings, or the Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed cooking, baking sugar cookies, making caramel corn, and talking with friends over coffee.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie, of Lake Mills; his son, Ron (Jan) Urban, of Columbia, South Carolina; his daughter, Kelly Krapek, of Minnetonka, Minnesota; his grandchildren, John Krapek (Becky Engel), of St. Paul, Minnesota, Annie Krapek (Joel Hilden), of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Robert (Jordan) Urban; and his great-grandson, Davis Urban, of Savannah, Georgia; his sisters, Alice Magana, of Summerton, Arizona, and Lovella Reusch-Ernst, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Glenn and Francis Urban; and his sisters, Louise Thompson, Ardis Lukins, Elinor Green, and Gladys Hull.

Memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday, May 13, 2016, at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Lake Mills with Reverend Shirley Hoffmann Will officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service, but the family would like to warmly invite everyone in attendance to come downstairs for lunch and sharing your “Wayne” memories following the memorial service at the church. Inurnment will take place in Cedar Cemetery, Cherokee, Iowa, at a later date. The Family suggests that memorials can be made to: Hospice of North Iowa, 232 2nd Street NE, Mason City, Iowa 50401 or the Lake Mills Ambulance Service, 105 S 1st Avenue W, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450.
