Dorothy Jean Anderson, 86, of Forest City, died on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at the Lake Mills Care Center, Hospice Serenity Suite, in Lake Mills, Iowa.

Dorothy, a daughter of Irvin and Grace (Robinson) Krieger, was born in Woden, Iowa, on March 20, 1930. In 1935, her mother, Grace, passed away when Dorothy was five years old. In 1939, her father married Blanche Peters. During her teenage years, Dorothy attended and then graduated from Thompson High School in 1948. While in school, she served as Senior Class President and actively participated in the Glee Club, Band, Mixed Chorus, Class Plays, Pep Club, Cub Staff, and cheer-leading. At the same time, she, also, worked as a nanny and as a switchboard operator.

After graduating, Dorothy attended the University of Northern Iowa where she earned a teaching degree. She, then, taught grades 1 through 8 at a country school in Linden Township. After accepting the Lord as her personal Savior, Dorothy attended Grand Rapids Baptist Bible College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. On December 30, 1950, she married Marvin Dean Anderson. She and Marvin were active members of the Calvary Baptist Church for most of their lives. She was a beautiful, dedicated, humble wife and mother. She and Marvin farmed his father’s family farm located west of Forest City for over fifty years. They had sixty-two years of married life together.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Sandra (Larry) Hixson, of Des Moines, Iowa, Michael (Sheri) Anderson, of Chandler, Arizona, Mishelle Anderson Dalal, of Clarksburg, Maryland, and Teresa (Brad) Hunemuller, of Lantana, Texas; her grandchildren: Chris, Jennifer, and Tom Anderson as well as Brittany Hunemuller Anderson; Hannah Bickford; Bianca Dalal; Peter Hixson; Sydney Hunemuller; Stephanie Stocker; and Heidi Zawisza; her great grandchildren: Miriam Bickford; Addie and Hope Hixson; Joshua and Matthew Stocker; and Ava and Carter Zawisza; and her sisters: Catherine Schroeder and Verna Knutson, both of Rochester, Minnesota; as well as cousins, nephews, and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin; her parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and her brother, Irvin Dean Krieger.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Monday, March 28, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church in Forest City with the Rev. Doug Farrell officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery immediately after the service. Visitation will take place Sunday, March 27, 2016, from 5:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Home in Forest City and will continue from 1:00 to 1:30 P.M. prior to the service at the Church.
