June 26, 1935 - January 13, 2016Carmen Bernice (Albertson) Tweed, age 80, of Lake Mills, died on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at the Lake Mills Care Center.
Carmen was born on June 26, 1935, in Winnebago County to Merle and Thelma (Brustad) Albertson. She attended school at Scarville and graduated in 1953.
On October 25, 1953, she married Arlen Tweed at the Scarville Evangelical Synod Lutheran Church. To this union, six children were born, Cynthia, Barbara, Wendy, Craig, Arlen, Jr., and Chad. Carmen and Arlen made their home in Lake Mills. She worked at Fleetguard for over thirty-five years while also selling Avon for thirty-five years. After retiring, she and Arlen moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas. Then, after Arlen passed away, Carmen moved back to Lake Mills to be near her family.
In their early married years, Carmen and Arlen enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, and watching their children and grandchildren participate in sporting events.
An active member in her church, Carmen served as an officer for the Ladies Aid organization.
Survivors include her children and their spouses: Barbara (Jack) Cox, of Leland, Iowa, Wendy (Randy) Gregg, of Tracy, California, Craig (Chris) Tweed, of Lake Mills, Iowa, Arlen, Jr., (Debra) Tweed, of Underwood, Iowa, and Chad (Michelle) Tweed, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren: Cory (Tracy) Cox; Renae, and friend, Omotayo; Cary Gregg, and fiancée, Mannon; Scott (Carrie), Ross (Paula), and Brian (Krishna) Hanson; Candy (Jim) Olsen; and Alissa, Brent (Jill), Rachelle, Adam, Conner, Tyler, and Lauryn Tweed; sixteen great grandchildren; and a brother, Gary (Elaine) Albertson, of Lake Mills, Iowa; as well as nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Arlen; her parents, Merle and Thelma Albertson; her daughter, Cynthia; her in-laws, Melville and Inez Tweed; her brother-in-law, Lewellyn Tweed, and his wife, Vonnie; and her sister-in-law, Beverly Smithe, and her husband, Jack.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at the Lake Mills Evangelical Synod Lutheran Church with Pastor David Emmons officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, January 18, 2016, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main St. in Lake Mills, and again one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will take place at the Scarville Evangelical Synod Cemetery in rural Scarville. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa or the Lake Mills Evangelical Synod Lutheran Church.
