FOREST CITY – Muriel J. Segerstrom, 87, of Forest City, died on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Society in Forest City.

Muriel Jeanette Segerstrom was born in Red Wing, Minnesota, on December 1, 1928, to Harry and Lydia (Saure) Peterson. She attended and graduated from Red Wing High School. On December 16, 1950, she married Robert (Bob) Segerstrom, of Forest City, Iowa. For the next forty years, she worked alongside her husband on the family dairy farm until they retired in 1990. In her “retirement,” she began working at the deli at Bill’s Family Foods in Forest City, and for many years, she and Bob sold baked goods and garden produce at the farmers’ markets in Forest City, Clear Lake, and Mason City.

With a strong faith in God, Muriel accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. An active member at the Calvary Baptist Church for many years, she was, currently, attending the First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol; her son, Lowell, and his wife, Kerri; her son-in-law, Paul Gremillion, and wife, Chris, all of Forest City; her grandchildren: Daniel (Marisa) Gremillion; Brooke (Cory) Jackson; and Abbie, Austin, Colton, Derek (Becky), Emma, Ethan, and Noah Segerstrom; her great grandchildren: Lauren and Vivian Gremillion and Audrey, Hannah, Liv, and Roen Segerstrom; her brother, Raymond (Ethel) Peterson; and her sister-in-law, Betty Segerstrom; as well as by several nieces and nephews.

Muriel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; her daughter, Martha Gremillion; her brothers, Roland and Elton “Bud” Peterson; and her sisters, Eleanor Krantz and Dorothy Ruble.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, February 8, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Forest City with Rev. Eric Weaver officiating. A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., Sunday, at the First Baptist Church in Forest City. Arrangements are by the Cataldo Schott Funeral Home, Forest City.
