Marlyce Jean Larson
August 24, 1931 - December 28, 2015

Marlyce Jean Larson, 84, of Mason City, Iowa, on died Monday, December 28, 2015, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Grace United Methodist Church with Pastor Karen Young officiating.

A daughter of Charles and Anna (Johnson) Gettis, Marlyce was born on August 24, 1931, in rural Leland, Iowa. Having made her family priority one, she worked hard to support and make a good home for her children. Moreover, she, always, looked forward to visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. As the family “Jokester,” she would take advantage of any opportunity for a good laugh whenever one would present itself. She loved movies, dancing, and baking all those special goodies to share. She was extremely proud of her Norwegian heritage.

Those thankful for having shared in Marlyce’s life include her children: Susan Jean (James) Sanvig, Deborah Lynae (Randall) Stensrud, and Brian Keith (Miya Lindh) Larson; a sister, Amy Jamtgaard; a brother, Dale Gettis; twelve grandchildren: Jayce Henry, Sayler Lee, and Wyatt Keith Larson; Allery Jean Lindh; Kim Lynae Oftedahl; Heather Lee O’Keefe; Jason Dale and Stephanie Suzann Sanvig; Chad Michael, Jerry Dean, and Larry Dean Steffensen; and Jesse Randall Stensrud; nineteen great grandchildren: Brandon, Brennan, Brianna, Brooke, Charlie Ann, Chloe, Dakota, Danielle, Dustin, Ella, Grant, Jeffrey, Josie, Julia, Levi, Mackenzie, Natali, Rowan, and Zachary; and a great-great granddaughter, River.

Marlyce was preceded by her parents; an infant sister, Ines Gettis; and a brother, Lyle Gettis.
