August 21, 1932 - December 18, 2015Ralph Brones, 83, of Rake, died on Friday, December 18, 2015, at the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center.
Ralph Eugene Brones was born on August 21, 1932, in Winnebago County, Iowa, to Palmer and Helen Brones. He graduated from Rake High School.
While serving in the Navy, Ralph married Harriet M. Faber in Berkley, California, on September 22, 1951. They, then, made their home in Berkley before returning to Rake, Iowa, where they raised their two children. After farming south of Rake for a few years, they moved into Rake where Ralph began working for Winnebago County Maintenance. For several years, he, also, served as the Rake City Clerk. After retiring from Winnebago County, he went to work part-time for Wiltse Excavating.
Ralph enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, square dancing, and playing cards.
He is survived by his son, Rick (Jan), of Aurora, Illinois; his daughter, Valerie, of Cranford, New Jersey; two grandchildren, Ronya, of Hannibal, Missouri, and Christy, of Aurora, Illinois; and two great-grandchildren, Travis and Ryan; one sister, Marion Wallof, of Aptos, California; and one brother, Eric Jorde, of Longview, Washington.
Ralph is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Harriet; two sons, Craig and Dean; and one sister, Sheryl Brones.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church in Rake, Iowa, with Pastor Lynn Noel officiating. Burial will be at Olena Mound Cemetery in Buffalo Center. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral at the church.
