WODEN- Dorothy M. Haugland, 96, of Woden, died on Sunday, November 29, 2015, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Dorothy Mable Haugland, a daughter of James and Frances (Johnson) Hornor, was born on July 13, 1919, in Elkhart, Iowa. She moved to Britt at an early age and graduated from the Britt high school in 1936. Then, she worked in the superintendent’s office while attending Britt Junior College. On June 3, 1938, she married Bjarne Haugland at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They farmed northeast of Crystal Lake, northeast of Kanawha, and in 1949 moved to their farm northeast of Woden. There, they lived there for twenty-eight years before retiring and moving into Woden.

Dorothy enjoyed attending the activities of her children and grandchildren. She, also, liked pottery, scrapbooks, photo albums, puzzles and card games. A lifetime homemaker, she, always, felt truly blessed to have so very many special friends.

A member of Grant Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aide Society for over fifty years, she enrolled as a charter member of the Grant Birthday Club in 1954.

Dorothy is survived by her two children, Dean (Doris) Haugland, of Crystal Lake, and Dale (LaRae) Haugland, of Britt; her sons-in-law, Roger Lunning, of Forest City, and Paul Lenz, of Spencer; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; as well as by many nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of sixty-three years, Bjarne, in 2002; her daughters, Jean Lenz, in 1983, and Linda Lunning, in 2009; her sister, Vera; and her beloved grandmother who raised her.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, December 3, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Woden with Rev. Kim Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Crystal Township Cemetery in Crystal Lake. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 310 Main Street, in Woden and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
