Anita M. Grunhuvd, 96, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died on Saturday, November 07, 2015, at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills, Iowa.

Anita Marcella Grunhuvd was born to John and Josie Johnson on September 9, 1919, on the family farm in Winnebago County, Iowa. She attended country school. A lifelong member, Anita was baptized, confirmed, and married at the Winnebago Lutheran Church.

Anita worked as a receptionist at a doctor’s office, a bookkeeper at an elevator, where she met her husband, Gilbert, and at Dunn’s V-store. On July 24, 1959, Anita married Gilbert Grunhuvd. They made their home in Lake Mills, Iowa.

Anita found great pleasure in life sharing her handwork as well as her wonderful baking skills, especially with cookies and lefse, with her friends and family. In addition, she acted as an honorary grandmother to her nieces, nephews, and the neighborhood kids.

Survivors include her sister, Shirley (Thomas) Tveit, of Lake Mills, Iowa; her sisters-in-law, Ruth Johnson and Marilyn Johnson, of Lake Mills, Iowa, and Blanche Grunhuvd; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gilbert; and her brothers, Andrew and Walter.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at the Winnebago Lutheran Church in rural Lake Mills, Iowa, with Pastor Bill Peters officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 AM until the service time. Burial will be at Winnebago Lutheran Cemetery. Family would like to suggest that memorials be made to the Winnebago Lutheran Church, 40029 210th Avenue, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450.
