Clarine Paulette Johnson
(November 2, 1949 - August 13, 2015)Clarine P. Johnson, age 65, of Lake Mills, died on Thursday, August 13, 2015, at the Lake Mills Care Center.
Clarine Paulette Johnson, a daughter of Paul and Harriet (Platts) Johnson, was born in Estherville, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Estherville High School. Then, she went on an adventure, hitch-hiking from Iowa to California before going on to Texas and then returing to Iowa. A free spirit, she spent her time learning life lessons, making friends, and seeing the country.
Back in Iowa, she attended Iowa Lakes Community College, earning an associate’s degree in bookkeeping. Throughout her life, she lived and worked in many different places, never letting too much grass grow under her feet. Nonetheless, she, always, thought of Lake Mills as her “home.” She will, especially, be remembered for her job at The Grand Café where she worked for over ten years, and even after she retired, she spent time there having coffee on a regular basis.
Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, reading almost any book she got her hands on (especially romance novels), and playing card games such as Skip-Bo, Rummy, and Phase 10. She loved her daughter, Cassandra, and was very proud of her grandson, Matthew.
Survivors include her daughter, Cassandra (James Gossman) Johnson, of Spencer, Iowa; her grandson, Matthew Seaman, of Spencer, Iowa; two brothers, David Johnson, of Hartley, Iowa, and Richard (Lisa) Johnson, of Spencer, Iowa; and special family members, Mark and Sheila Enderson, of Lake Mills; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at Salem Lutheran Church Chapel in Lake Mills at 1:30 PM on Saturday, August 22, 2015, Pastor Melinda McCluskey officiating. Inurnment will take place in Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Lake Mills. Her family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
