Kermit Ellsworth Grunhovd, 90, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died on Thursday, July 23, 2015, at the Lake Mills Care Center.

Kermit Grunhovd, a son of Norris and Luella (Ausen) Grunhovd, was born on October 1, 1924, in Winnebago County. He attended country school and graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1942.

In 1962, Kermit married Blanche McClain at Salem Lutheran Church. They made their home and raised two children on the Grunhovd homestead where Kermit farmed. Otherwise, he enjoyed bowling, taking fishing trips to Canada, spending time with his family, and his daily trips into town to visit and have coffee. He will be remembered as a long-time custodian at the Lake Mills Community School, retiring at age 62.

Kermit is survived by his wife, Blanche Grunhovd, of Lake Mills; his daughter, Laurie (Roger) Downing, of Lake Mills; his son, Kyle Grunhovd, of Emmons, Minnesota; and a sister-in-law, Anita Grunhovd, of Lake Mills; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gilbert and Laurel Grunhovd; and a sister AnnMae Johnson.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with Pastor Peter Soli officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Memorial Cemetery, rural Lake Mills. Visitation for Kermit will be on Monday, July 27, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
