Marie Sandell
(April, 21, 1925 - March 7, 2015)

Marie Adeline (Nerdig) Sandell, formerly of Bloomington, Minnesota, passed away on March 7, 2015, at age 89, in Brainerd, Minnesota. At the time, she had been residing at the Edgewood Vista Care Center.

The youngest child of Henry and Elizabeth (Schaefer) Nerdig, Marie was born on April, 21, 1925, in Buffalo Center. After graduating from Buffalo Center High School, she attended the Waterloo School of Beauty Culture. While working in Mason City, she met her late husband, Albin (Sandy) Sandell, of Thompson. They married at the Ellis Point Church on May 26, 1946, upon his discharge from the Armed Forces. They lived in Thompson, Rake, and Northwood, Iowa, and Albert Lea, Minnesota, before moving to Bloomington, Minnesota. Active in the spiritual life of her church, she taught Sunday School and vacation Bible School. At the time of her death, she was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Bloomington. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking, and entertaining family and friends.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Donna (Greg) Lindberg, of Naples, Florida, and her son, Bryce (Marilyn) Sandell, of San Antonio, Texas; her grandson, Nicholas (Melanie) Sandell, and her great granddaughter, Lila Sandell, of Lorrain, Ohio, as well as by several nieces and nephews.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, in 1985, her sister, Eunice Klinger, and her brother, Dean Nerdig.

Funeral services are to be held on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at 1:00 PM at the Winter Funeral Home, Buffalo Center, Iowa. Interment will follow at Olena Mound Cemetery in Buffalo Center. Memorials can be given to the American Heart Association.
