Lois Jean Emrud
February 28, 1940 - November 29, 2014Lois Jean Emrud, 74, of Dodge Center, Minnesota, passed away on November 29, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minnesota.
A daughter of Fred and Hazel (Heimdal) Severson, Lois was born on February 28, 1940, in Forest City, Iowa. After graduating from Forest City High School in 1959, she attended Mankato Business College.
On July 16, 1960, Lois married Lowell Emrud in Forest City, Iowa. She worked as a Nurses Aid at the Fairview Nursing Home and part-time at the In Town Greenhouse for twenty years. She, also, worked at the Barlow Hy-Vee for seven years.
Very involved in her community, Lois participated in the Community Choir, the Church Choir, the Lois Club of Rochester, Minnesota, the Home Extension Club, the Sons of Norway Club, the Home Council as secretary, the Wow Bible Study Group, the Monday Musical, the Nursing Home Auxiliary where she had served as president, and at Faith Lutheran Church as the funeral coordinator for sixteen years.
Lois is survived by her husband, Lowell Emrud, of Dodge Center, Minnesota; her children, Brad (Sue) Emrud, of Poplar Grove, Illinois, Steven (Sherrie) Emrud, of Milaca, Minnesota, and Barbara (Dave) Bruemmer, of Ramsey, Minnesota; as well as by nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. The family would prefer memorials be given to Faith Lutheran Church in Dodge Center.
The funeral service for Lois Jean Emrud will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2014, at Faith Lutheran Church, 308, 2nd Street NW, in Dodge Center with Reverend Barbara Streed officiating. Interment will be at Carlston Cemetery near Alden, Minnesota, at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Visitation will be from 5:30-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 25 South Street, SW, in Dodge Center and one hour before the service at the church on Friday.
