Diane S. Benson, 69, of Forest City, went to be with her heavenly Father whom she loved dearly on Monday, December 15, 2014, at the ABCM Rehabilitation Center in Independence, Iowa.

Diane S. Benson was born on July 21, 1945, in Vinje, Iowa, a daughter of Chris and Dorothy Engebretson. She graduated from Lake Mills High School. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church, she had many fond memories of her role as a Sunday and Bible school teacher. She worked at Bricelyn Canning as an inspector in addition to caring for her three daughters, Jodi, Lori, and Wanda.

Diane enjoyed spending time with God, her daughters, her grandchildren, her family, and her friends. She donated blood and her hair to Locks of Love, and she enjoyed volunteering her time. Celebrating and expressing her love for life, she liked to dance and garden. In short, she just enjoyed an active life. She rejoiced in the wonder of nature and music. Comforted by her strong faith in God, she bravely fought cancer and then faced death with grace and dignity. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Diane is survived by her two daughters, Lori and Wanda (Kyle); her grandsons, Kyle, Nic, Dakota, Glenn, Garrett, Breckyn, and Kasyn Betenbender; her great-granddaughter, Kayle; and her sisters and brothers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob, in 2013; her daughter, Jodi, in 2011; her granddaughter, Morgan; and her brother, Lloyd; as well as by her uncles; aunts; and twins in infancy.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 18, 2014, at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Rod Hopp of the Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. A gathering of friends and family will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to the Diane S. Benson memorial fund in care of the family
