June 15, 1950 – November 8, 2014FOREST CITY – Surrounded by his loving family, Leo A. Steenblock, 64, of Forest City, died on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Leo Arthur Steenblock, a son of Peter and Fanny (Decker) Steenblock, was born on June 15, 1950, in Mason City. He attended Mason City High School, graduating in 1968. He, then, enlisted in the Army. Stationed in Germany, he was put in charge of training troops and loading tanks. He was honorably discharged in 1972. In 1977, Leo met JoAnn Moen; they were married on September 10, 1983. He worked at Winnebago Industries for over twenty years.
Leo loved spending time with his family and pets, especially his dog, Outlaw. He, also, enjoyed cruising with JoAnn, going to the casino, and collecting ships.
Leo is survived by his wife, JoAnn Steenblock, of Forest City; his son, Jason Steenblock, of Mason City; three daughters, Amber Moen, of Forest City, Stacie (Brian) Sliger, of Grafton, and Mickie (Andy) Hamilton, of Titonka; five grandchildren, Alexis, Devin, Trevor, Autumn, and Jordan; four sisters; four brothers; and many nieces and nephews.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers; and one sister.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M., on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Home in Forest City. A service will follow the visitation at 6:00 P.M. with Pastor Justin May officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Leo Steenblock Memorial Fund in care of the family.
