Cynthia Hanson, 59, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died on Monday, August 25, 2014, at her home in Lake Mills, Iowa, after a year-long battle with cancer.

The oldest of six children, Cynthia Ann (Tweed) Hanson was born on October 7, 1954, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Arlen and Carmen (Albertson) Tweed. Baptized at the Scarville Synod Lutheran Church and confirmed in her faith at the Lake Mills Synod Lutheran Church, she graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1973.

On June 9, 1973, Cynthia married David Hanson. In due course, they had three children, Scott, Ross, and Brian. Cynthia lived in the Lake Mills area all her life and worked at several area businesses. Most people knew her from her twenty-five years at the local grocery store where she developed many relationships with people in the community. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.

Known for her cooking and baking ability, Cynthia made baked goods and cooked meals for local events. She enjoyed bowling, doing puzzles, watching NASCAR races, going to her grandchildren’s activities, playing cards, visiting with friends and family, and golfing every chance she had.

Cindy will be missed and remembered by her three children, Scott and Carrie (MaKenna and Kinser), Ross and Paula (Casey, Brady, and Hillary), and Brian and Krishna (Braylon and Kalen), all of Lake Mills; her mother, Carmen Tweed of Lake Mills; her siblings, Barb and Jack Cox, of Lake Mills, Wendy and Randy Gregg, of Tracy, California, Craig and Chris Tweed, of Lake Mills, Arlen, Jr., and Debra Tweed, of Underwood, Iowa, and Chad and Michelle Tweed, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, as well as by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arlen Tweed; her grandparents, Merle and Thelma Albertson and Melville and Inez Tweed; and her friend, Bob Grimm.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 29, 2014, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with Pastor Doug Domokos and Pastor Melinda McCluskey officiating. Following the service, cremation will take place with inurnment to be at a later date. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Salem Lutheran Church, 401 South Lake Street, Lake Mills, and will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday.
