Robert Pershing Eide
June 9, 1918 - [May 13, 1968]*Funeral services were held Friday, May 17, 1968, for Robert P. Eide, 49, Leland, Iowa, at the West Prairie Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Milo Lee officiating. Military graveside rites were conducted by the American Legion Post 121.
Robert Pershing Eide was born June 9, 1918, the son of Enoch and Helen Egnes Eide. He married Irene Hauge March 3, 1951, at Thompson.
Before moving to Leland, he lived at Riceville. He was a veteran of World War II. During his lifetime he was a truck driver and bus driver. He had worked at Winnebago Industries for a time and was a custodian at Leland school until his health forced him to remain home.
He was a member of the West Prairie Lutheran Church and belonged to the American Legion and VFW at Leland.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Robert Pershing, Jr.
Surviving are his wife, Irene; two children, Crystal and Carla, 5; four brothers, Herbert, Leland; James, Kenneth, Gordon, all of Riceville; three sisters: Mrs. W. W. Kruger, Albert Lea; Mrs. Martin Bennett, LeRoy and Mrs. W. T. Tillson, Scottsdale, Arizona.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
