Donovan M. Juveland, 81, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died on Friday, January 17, 2014, at the Lake Mills Care Center.

Donovan Merlin Juveland was born on September 1, 1932, to Melvin and Gladys (Martinson) Juveland on the home farm in Norway Township, Winnebago County, Iowa. He attended school in Lake Mills, graduating from high school in 1950.

He married Louella Schisel. To this union, a daughter, Nancy A. Juveland, was born. Luella passed away in 1956. On September 1, 1972, Donovan married Edna Stehn in Lake Mills.

Donovan enjoyed faming, tending to his livestock, and having coffee with family, friends, and neighbors. Most days, Donovan traveled to local auctions in search of treasure, a favorite pastime and hobby. He enjoyed finding unique items and loved carrying them in his pocket for show and tell during the next coffee time. An avid NASCAR fan, he hated to miss a race.

He is survived by his grandsons, Donald Holtan and Jason (Abby) Holtan; his great-granddaughters, Alyssa, Chelsey, Madison, Becca, and Tori; his brothers, Roger (Carol) Juveland and Earl Juveland (special friend Evelyn); his step-son, Dan Stehn; and his step-daughter, Kathy Stehn; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Gladys Juveland; his brother, Ardell Juveland; his first wife, Louella; his second wife, Edna; his daughter, Nancy Holtan; his son-in-law, Terry Holtan; his sister-in-law, Lorraine Juveland; and his step-sons, Jim and Ron Stehn.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with Pastor Scott Duffus officiating. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday, January 20, 2014, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Salem Memorial Cemetery in Lake Mills.

Donovan will be greatly missed.
