January 25, 1919 - July 5, 2013FOREST CITY - Leslie L. Olson, 94, of Forest City, died on Friday, July 5, 2013, at the Concord Care Center in Garner.
Leslie, son of Lewis and Clara Larson Olson, was born on the family farm in Ellington Township, Hancock County, Iowa, on January 25, 1919. In 1936, he graduated from Ventura High School. After farming at home with his parents, he moved to El Segundo, California, for three years to work for Douglas Aircraft. When his father died in 1943, he came home to help farm the family land. In 1946, he began working for Gjellefald & Associates, Forest City.
On October 23, 1950, Leslie married Irmalee Winger. In 1958, he began his career with Winnebago Industries, working there until he retired. He was proud to have delivered some of the first Winnebago trailers. Les and Irmalee enjoyed many years of travel together and winters spent in Florida.
Leslie is survived by his wife, Irmalee; his sister, Ionia Oman, of Millersville, Maryland; his sisters-in-law, Gladys Olson, of Forest City, Luella McKay, of Hernando, Florida, and Barbara Winger, of Salem, Oregon; as well as by nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Wilbur; his brothers-in-law, Lyman Oman and Don Winger; and his sister-in-law, Nettie Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City, with Pastor Greg Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be held at Pilot Knob Lutheran Cemetery in rural Forest City.
