FOREST CITY - Delores A. Nyhus, age 79, of Forest City, died at her home in rural Forest City on Wednesday, July 24, 2013.

Delores A. Nyhus was born on a farm in rural Forest City, Iowa, on September 10, 1933, the daughter of Raymond and Evelyn (Leach) Morem. She attended country school near her home and then graduated from Forest City High School. After graduating from the Mounds-Midway School of Nursing in St. Paul, Minnesota, she worked as a nurse at the Forest City Hospital. On August 14, 1955, she married Norman Nyhus. She also helped out on the farm.

A long-time member of Pilot Knob Lutheran Church, Delores enjoyed quilting with her friends there.

Delores is survived by her husband, Norman, of Forest City; two sons, Roger (Bonnie) Nyhus, of Forest City, and Ronald Nyhus, of Clear Lake; two grandchildren, Craig (Laura) Nyhus, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Laura Nyhus, of Gilbert, Arizona; a great-grandchild, Carter Nyhus, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; a brother-in-law, Harold Nyhus, of Forest City; and a sister, Donna (Harvey) Eden, of Wesley, Iowa, as well as by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Evelyn Morem.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, July 29, 2013, at Pilot Knob Lutheran Church in rural Forest City with Pastor Robert Snitzer officiating. Burial will be at the Pilot Knob Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2013, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark Street, Forest City, and will continue an hour prior to services at the church.
