Doretta Wirtjes
(July 9, 1926 - March 24, 2013)

Doretta Wirtjes, age 86, of Prior Lake, Minnesota, originally from Buffalo Center, Iowa, went home to be with the Lord on Palm Sunday, March 24, 2013.

Doretta Ann was born on July 9, 1926, to Ralph and Ethel Johnson. On December 27, 1946, she married Art Wirtjes in Ledyard, Iowa. They lived on and worked the same farm at Lakota, Iowa, until they retired in 1985 and moved to Buffalo Center. Art passed away in 2002.

Involved in every aspect of farming, Doretta was a true helpmate to Art. She enjoyed gardening, cross-stitching, and excelled at cooking and baking. A voracious reader of her Bible and Christian books, she always had her Bible open on her table. An active member of Ramsey Reformed Church, she treasured her church family. Doretta really enjoyed living in town and the time she spent with neighbors and friends.

Doretta moved to the Keystone Apartments in Prior Lake in 2006 to be near her family. She especially loved all the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was present at the hospital for the births of three of her four great-grandchildren. They were the light of her life.

Doretta is survived by her daughters, Linda (Vaun) Olhausen and Arlys (William) Meeker; her grandchildren, Sheila (Matt) Christianson, Heidi (Trevor) Winter, and Matt (Tiffany) Meeker; her great-grandchildren, Macy and Nolan Winter and Tyler and Rayna Christianson; and one sister, Carolyn (Roger) Goetz; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her sister, Marvella Beenken.

Funeral service for Doretta Wirtjes will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at the Ramsey Reformed Church in Titonka with Pastor Perry DeGroot officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Ramsey Reformed Cemetery in Titonka.

God bless the memory of Doretta Wirtjes.
