February 6, 1934 - March 25, 2013FOREST CITY - Janet West, 79, of Forest City, died on Monday, March 25, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa in Mason City.
Janet Jean West was born on February 6, 1934, in Britt, Iowa, the daughter of Forrest and Fern (Fillenwarth) Reibsamen. A graduate of Britt High School, she married Cletus West in August of 1954 in Britt, Iowa. They lived in Wesley, Iowa, but later divorced. Janet, then, made her home in Forest City. She worked at Stitchcraft, Winnebago Industries, for twenty-nine years. A very talented seamstress, she also did beautiful stitch craft needlework and crocheting.
Survivors include her nine children, LuAnn (Douglas) Widen, of Cedar Falls, LaDonna (Charles) Struckman, of Bellevue, Mike (Janis) West, of Wesley, Pat West, of Mason City, Lynnette (John) Sorensen, of West Des Moines, Lorri (Greg) Helleckson, of Reno, Nevada, Linda (Greg) Hendren, of Cedar Falls, Rob (Danae) West, of Des Moines, and Rich West, of Des Moines; twenty-four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; her longtime friend, David Courtney, of Forest City; and a brother, Bill Reibsamen, of Hampton. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Reibsamen.
As per her wishes, Janet’s body has been cremated. Her children will have a private family gathering at a later date.
