May 4, 1948 - January 8, 2005FOREST CITY— Catherine "Cathy" M. Delzer, 56, of Forest City, died on Saturday, January 8, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.
Catherine (Cathy) Mary Delzer was born in Mitchell, South Dakota, on May 4, 1948, the daughter of Orville and Mary (Mayhew) Marks. She received her education in Mitchell and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1966. She continued her education at Springfield State College and later worked in the office at General Motors Equipment in Mitchell.
On May 23, 1970, she married Darryl Delzer. The family moved to Forest City in 1972 when Darryl began working at Winnebago. Cathy worked for a couple of years at Bill's Red Owl.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and an active "prayer chain" partner. She was a dedicated Elvis fan and enjoyed camping trips and finding a bargain at a garage sale. She spent her most treasured times, however, with her children and grandchildren.
Cathy is survived by her husband, Darryl Delzer, of Forest City; her parents, Orville and Mary Marks, of Mitchell, South Dakota; and her children, Monica Solberg, and her husband, Darwin, of Forest City, Melissa Delzer, and her fiancé, Shawn Plymesser, of Lake Mills, Michele Badker, and her husband, Curt, of Clear Lake, and Mark Delzer of Forest City; her grandchildren, Michaela Delzer, Mitchell Solberg, Dylan Solberg, and baby Badker, soon to be born; her special friends; her dedicated prayer group friends; and her closest friends.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 14, 2005, at St. James Catholic Church in Forest City with the Rev. Jerry Blake officiating. Burial will be at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Forest City. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 13, 2005, at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, Forest City, and one hour prior to services at the church.
