(December 24, 1923 - February 24, 2013)

Wayne Teig, age 89, of Rake, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center.

Allen Wayne Teig was born on December 24, 1923, at Blue Earth, Minnesota, to Ole and Martha (Berge) Teig. Baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, he attended and graduated from school in Blue Earth.

After graduating, Wayne traveled to the West Coast where he worked for several years. Upon his return, he settled in the Rake, Iowa, area where he met and married Opal Quam. They farmed south of Rake until retiring when they moved into Rake where they had since resided.

Active in his community, Wayne served several terms on the board of directors at the Rake Elevator as well as a trustee at Zion Lutheran Church where he was a long time member.

To cherish his beloved memory, Wayne leaves behind his wife, Opal; his sons, Terry and Danny; his daughter, Janelle, and her husband, George Bauer; his grandchildren, Michael Bauer, and his wife, Christie, and Scott Bauer, and his wife, Lynn; and four great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Edwards; and two sisters-in-law, Edith (John) and Val (Don) Teig.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and three sisters.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the West Cemetery in Rake, Iowa, with Pastor Terry Mahnke officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Friday, March 1, 2013, at the Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center.
