Veryl G. Meyer, 91, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died on Saturday, July 4, 2009, at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills, Iowa.

Veryl George Meyer was born on July 2, 1918, in Mansfield, Minnesota, the son of Herman and Alvina (Katzung) Meyer. Baptized and confirmed at Mansfield, Minnesota, he attended school in Kiester, Minnesota. Later, he continued his education at the University Of Minnesota.

On May 29, 1941, Veryl married Rosie Seher in Gackle, North Dakota. Three children were born to this union. During World War II, Veryl served his country in the United States Army.

Veryl and Rosie owned and operated the Scarville Food Market and later the Lake Mills Locker. For ten years, he also worked for Deluxe Manufacturing in Lake Mills, now known as Cummins Filtration.

Survivors include his wife, Rosie, of Lake Mills, Iowa; his daughter, Ginger and her husband, Paul Nelson, of Mantorville, Minnesota; his son, Kim, and his wife, Julie Meyer, of Twin Lakes, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Jeremy Nelson, of Dodge Center, Minnesota, and Logan, Levi, and Isabella Meyer, of Twin Lakes, Minnesota; and one great-granddaughter, Cassandra Nelson, of Dodge Center, Minnesota; along with many other relatives and friends.

Veryl is preceded in death by his parents; one son in infancy; his sisters and a brother, Lorene, Myrtle, and Herb.

Veryl loved his family, his grandchildren, and time spent on the farm.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Sunday, July 12, 2009, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450, and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, July 13, 2009, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, Iowa, with Pastor W. Paul Weeg officiating. Burial will take place at Salem Memorial Cemetery, Lake Mills, Iowa, with military rites conducted by Lake Mills Otto/Chose Post #235.
