(December 23, 1940 - May 19, 2007)

Mary Louise Thompson, 66, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died Saturday, May 19, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa.

Mary Louise Eenhuis was born on December 23, 1940, in rural Forest City, Hancock County, Iowa, to Louis and Elva (Shelton) Eenhuis. She attended country school and graduated from Forest City High School in 1958. She, then, attended nursing school and became a registered nurse.

On October 3, 1961, she married Marshall Thompson at her parents’ home near Forest City. They lived for a time in Missouri and then moved back to Iowa in 1963. Marshall and Mary lived in Mason City, Miller, and Hayfield before finally moving to Lake Mills in 1966. Mary worked as an RN at the Lake Mills Care Center until 1985.

She enjoyed reading, baking, gardening, and spending time with her three grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband of forty-five years, Marshall, of Lake Mills; her daughter, Sherylee, and her husband, Terry Gasper, of Lake Mills; her son, Travis Thompson, of Lake Mills; three grandchildren: Tyler and Marissa Gasper and Corey Knutson, all of Lake Mills; three sisters: Esther Kirschbaum, of Leland, Jeanette Dodd, of Lake Mills, and Joretta Riggle, of Glenville, Minnesota; a brother, Mike Eenhuis, of Wakefield, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Sharon, and her husband, Mike Walsh, of Mason City; and a brother-in-law, Richard Thompson, and his wife, Wilma, of Forest City; along with many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Elva Eenhuis; two sisters: Margaret and Lila Nielsen; two brothers: Robert and Lyle Eenhuis; a brother-in-law, Steven Thompson; and an infant son, Joseph.

Following a private family memorial service, those who wish to express their condolences with the family may do so from 5:00-6:00 PM, Monday, May 21, 2007, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills, Iowa.
