April 1, 1930 - July 28, 2012FOREST CITY - Dorothy M. Haugen, age 82, of Forest City, died Saturday, July 28, 2012, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Dorothy was born April 1, 1930, near Clear Lake, the daughter of Albert and Elsie Humphrey Juhl. She was baptized April 5, 1931, and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith on May 18, 1944. She attended grade school in Clear Lake and graduated from Fertile High School in May, 1948. On September 10, 1948, she married Kenneth Lemke at Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake. Kenneth died on September 10, 1958, as the result of a farm accident. Dorothy later married Ernest Haugen of Forest City.
Dorothy was an avid volunteer for her community with Hospice, the Good Samaritan Society, and Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, doing crafts, and surprised everyone with her talent for making things.
Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Randy (Mary) Lemke, Brandon, of South Dakota, and Craig (Debra) Lemke, of Sahuarita, Arizona; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; her sister, Nancy (Ron) Schroeder, of Clear Lake; and her brother, Delbert (Viola) Juhl, of Osceola; and her special family, Ellyn and Theresa Charlson, and their two children; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, Kenneth Lemke and Ernest Haugen.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 5, 2012, at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark Street, Forest City.
There will be no formal funeral service.
Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, August 6, 2012, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City, Iowa.Copyright © 2012, Petersen Lund Funeral Home
