(September 30, 1918 - December 5, 2011)Annabelle Gallagher, 93, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died Monday, December 05, 2011, at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa.
Annabelle Gallagher was born on September 30, 1918, at Plymouth, Iowa, the daughter of John and Anna (Reindl) Chehock. She graduated from Plymouth High School and attended Business School in Mason City, Iowa. She was employed at Decker’s in Mason City.
On July 20, 1941, she married Raymond W. “Bud” Gallagher at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in Plymouth, Iowa, from 1941 to 1948, before moving to Burchinal, Iowa, where they lived from 1948 to 1968. In 1968, they moved to Lake Mills, Iowa, where she remained until her death.
Annabelle was employed at the Lake Mills Community School for many years. She and her husband both did volunteer work for V.O.G.A. (Volunteer Organizations Cooperatives Association) in Bangkok, Thailand, and Cote d’Ivoire, Africa. For several years, Annabelle also delivered meals on wheels. She was an active member of the Literary Club and the Asbury United Methodist Church, serving on various committees over the years.
Annabelle will be sadly missed by her family: her three children, Craig, and his wife, Marcedes, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Susan, of Iowa City, Iowa, and Jay, and his wife, Christine, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her five grandchildren, Jennifer Murra and Melissa Reiter as well as Sean, Margaret, and Michael Gallagher; and her four great grandchildren, Riley, Ian, Henry, and Lauren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond “Bud” Gallagher; three brothers; and one sister.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 8, 2011, at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Lake Mills, Iowa, with Pastor Wendi Gillan officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday evening, December 7, 2011, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450, and again one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will take place at the Bohemian Cemetery in Plymouth, Iowa.
