(September 12, 1932 - August 31, 2011)

Almira Bell, age 78, of Thompson, died Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City.

Almira Ann (Woiwood) Bell was born on September 12, 1932, in Mason City, Iowa, to Walter and Selma (Katter) Woiwood. Baptized, confirmed, and married at the Peace Reformed Church in Garner, Iowa, she graduated from Ventura High School in 1950.

Almira married Donald Bell on January 28, 1951, at the Peace Reformed Church. They were blessed with three children, Steven, Daniel, and Donalle.

Together, Almira and Don farmed the Bell Family Farm near Thompson. Active in her community, Almira served on various boards and positions within the church. She also prepared meals for the Thompson Senior Center for several years.

Almira enjoyed china painting, cooking, baking, gardening, camping, and fishing. She also felt that any time spent with her family was time well spent. In addition, music played an important role in her life.

Almira is survived by her son, Daniel (Sheryl), of Lake Mills, Iowa; her daughter, Donalle (Leon) Rodas, of Spencer, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Abby, Chad, Eric, Heather, Jennifer, Michelle, Nicholas, Susan, and Troy; her sisters-in-law, Lois Woiwood, of Garner, Iowa, Marjorie Sorenson, of Britt, Iowa, and Velora Woiwood, of Independence, Missouri; as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; her son, Steven; and her brothers, Eugene, Vincent, and Donald.

Funeral services for Almira are being planned for 10:30 am, Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Thompson. Visitation will be Friday, September 2, 2011, from 5:00-7:00 pm at the church.
