Robert "Bob" Dean Harang
(November 10, 1949 - May 20, 2011)

Robert “Bob” Harang, age 61, of Lake Mills, died Friday, May 20, 2011, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Robert Dean Harang was born on November 10, 1949, at Forest City, Iowa, to Kermit and Wilma McClain Harang. He was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. Bob attended and graduated from Lake Mills High School with the class of 1967 and went on to attend Iowa State University in Ames.

Following his schooling, Bob worked at Cardinal Construction in Waterloo for over twenty-five years, specializing in concrete work. He then moved back to Lake Mills where he was employed with Larson Contracting.

A hard worker, Bob often completed extra concrete and building projects. He enjoyed participating in sports leagues including softball, volleyball, and golf. Devoted to his daughters, Bob attended all of their activities during their school years and worked hard to support them through college.

Survivors include his two daughters, Kristen (Brad) Holtan, of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, and Jenna (Jonathan) Grimm, of Ashburn, VIriginia; a granddaughter, Avery Holtan, of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; his mother, Wilma Harang, of Lake Mills, Iowa; and his siblings, Ray Harang, of Thompson, Iowa, Renee (John) Matson, of Olds Mar, Florida, Rick (Marlene) Harang, of Leland, Iowa, and Rod (Sandy) Harang, of Lake Mills, Iowa. Bob is also survived by two aunts, Blanche (Kermit) Grunhovd, of Lake Mills, Iowa, and Arlene Rauan of Washington; nieces and nephews, Jay (Teri) Clough, Terry Harrington, Kim Jensen, Britney Hultman, Shawna Matson, Jillian (Nate) VanEpps, Jordan Harang, Nicole Hermanson, and Sabrina Roll; a special cousin, Darlene Gremmer of Britt, Iowa; and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kermit Harang; his fiancée, Michelle Brown; and a nephew, Joshua Matson.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, Iowa, with Pastor David E. Jordon officiating. Inurnment will take place at Salem Memorial Cemetery, Lake Mills.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 24, 2011, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.
