Henrietta Brass
(August 2, 1921 - April 26, 2011)

Henrietta Brass, age 89, of Buffalo Center, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center, Iowa.

Henrietta (Meinders) Brass, daughter of George and Maggie (Steen) Meinders, was born on August 2, 1921, at Buffalo Center, Iowa.

On January 30, 1947, she married Eddie Brass at the First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center. This marriage was blessed with two children, Gene and Janet.

An active member of the RCWM and Dorcas Circle, she had been baptized and confirmed at the First Reformed Church. Before entering the Timely Mission Nursing Home two years ago, she had also been a member of the Kossuth County, Lincoln Township, Birthday Club.

Her grandchildren knew her for making the best possible pancakes and scalloped corn.

Left to Cherish her memory are her son, Gene (Marilyn) Brass, of Buffalo Center; her daughter, Janet Churchill, of Mahtomedi, Minnesota; six grandchildren: Tara Ortman, of Union, Mississippi, Travis (Alicia) Brass, of Lakota, Iowa, Colby (Elisheba) Churchill, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, Caleb (Molly) Churchill, of Woodbury, Minnesota, Casey Churchill, of Duluth, Minnesota, and Celsy Churchill, of Mahtomedi, Minnesota; a son-in-law, Jim Churchill, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; a grandson-in-law, Chad Ortman, of Burt, Iowa; six great-grandchildren: Braden, Kaitlin, and Robert Gene Ortman, of Burt, Iowa, Saydee Churchill, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and Zachary and Madelyn Churchill, of Woodbury, Minnesota; a sister, Dorothy Meyering, of Buffalo Center, Iowa; a brother, Raymond (Maureen) Meinders, of Bellevue, Nebraska; two sisters-in-law, Jennie Frerichs, of Buffalo Center, Iowa, and Lillian Brass, of Garner, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Henrietta was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie, in 2000; her parents; an infant sister, Vergie; a brother-in-law, Fred Meyering; a nephew, Roger Meyering; and a great-nephew, Ethan Meyering.

Funeral Services for Henrietta will be on Saturday April 30, 2011, at 10:30AM at the First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center, Iowa, with Rev. Bill Peake officiating. Burial will be at Olena Mound Cemetery in Buffalo Center, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00pm, on Friday April 29, 2011, at the First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center.
