Mavis Kathleen Lande
(September 25, 1920 - May 15, 2011)

Mavis K. Lande, 90, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, formerly of Lake Mills, Iowa, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2011, at the Albert Lea Medical Center in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Mavis Kathleen Lande, daughter of Andrew and Bettie (Engelsrud) Rasmusson, was born on September 25, 1920, in Emmons, Minnesota. She graduated from Emmons High School in 1938. Afterwards, she attended business school in Mason City, Iowa.

On December 28, 1940, she married Raymond L. Lande at Salem Lutheran Church. Mavis lived in Lake Mills for sixty-eight years before moving, in May of 2009, to an assisted living apartment at Oak Park Place in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Employed at Lake Mills Plastic Company for several years, Mavis later worked in the kitchen/ lunchroom at the Lake Mills Community School. She enjoyed entertaining friends and family, cooking, baking, gardening, and reading. For many years, she also belonged to a Knitting Club and a Bridge Club. She was an active member at Salem Lutheran Church. She belonged to the Altar Guild, Rachel's Circle, WELCA, and the Bible Study group. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Otto/Chose #235. Mavis was truely blessed with many lifelong friendships.

Mavis is survived by her loving daughters: Kathy Sevley, of Kiester, Minnesota, and Julie Posthumus, and her husband, James, of Burnsville, Minnesota. She had six grandchildren: Kimberly Stollard, and special friend, Jim Haubenschild, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, Scott Sevley, and his fiancée, Lyne Roeder, of Thompson, Iowa, Jeremy Sevley, of Kiester, Minnesota, Jennifer Reiland, and her husband, Leonard Reiland, of Burnsville, Minnesota, Justin Posthumus, and his special friend, Angela Sliva, of Eagan, Minnesota, and Jason Posthumus, of Burnsville, Minnesota. Mavis also had seven great-grandchildren: Brittany Knudtson, Samantha Sevley, Trevin Stollard, Samuel and Madeline Reiland, and Tyler and Juliana Posthumus. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Nellie Rasmusson; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; a brother, Everette Rasmusson; and a son-in-law, Earl Sevley.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, May 20, 2011, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with Pastor David E. Jordon officiating. Burial will take place in Salem Memorial Cemetery, Lake Mills.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
