(July 7, 1918 - April 30, 2011)

Izetta “Iky” M. Iverson, 92, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died Saturday, April 30, 2011, at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills, Iowa, after having struggled with Alzheimer’s Disease for many years.

Izetta Muriel Iverson was born on July 7, 1918, in Hanlontown, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob and Clara (Hage) Knutsen. Those who knew her were blessed by this proper, yet fun loving wife, mother, sister and friend.

“Iky” graduated from Hanlontown High School in 1934. She found work first in Mason City and then later helped her uncle, Doc Hage, in his office in Lake Mills.

On September 17, 1944, she married Wilfred “Wif” Iverson at the First Lutheran Church parsonage in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

While raising her family, Izetta ejoyed working part-time at the Graphic Publishing Company. She later cooked at the Lake Mills Care Center, the Senior Center and the Rice Lake Golf Course. She enjoyed cooking, baking and entertaining friends and relatives.

Izetta was a member of Salem Lutheran Church where she was active in circle and WELCA. A member of Lake Mills American Legion Auxiliary, she enjoyed playing bridge and traveling. She found a trip to Norway where she was able to meet several relatives especially memorable.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Kassera, of Lake Mills, Iowa; her son, Lee (Bonnie) Iverson, of Scarville, Iowa; a grandson, Darren (Margaret) Kassera, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; and two sisters-in-law, Annabelle Knutsen and Helene Iverson, both of Lake Mills, Iowa; as well as several nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilfred; her son, Alan; her sisters, Hazel and Martha; and her brothers, James and Harold.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor David E. Jordon officiating.

Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until service time at the church Tuesday morning.

Her body will be cremated after the service and inurnment will take place at Salem Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
