With his parents and three youngest brothers he moved to Bee county, Texas, and lived there for a number of years in the Normanna settlement. Here he was united in marriage to Miss Celia Travland in June, 1898. To this union was born a daughter Amelia (Mrs. Cecil Newberry) of Beesville, Texas. Mrs. Mannes died a few years later. From 1908 to 1911 he lived in Roland with his family, and operated a dray line. In 1911 they moved to a farm near Forest City and in 1912 moved to a farm near Thompson, where he has farmed for the past 29 years. During the last year he became ill with an illness that could not be checked and shortly after midnight on Sunday, September 28, he passed away at the age of 65 years and one month.

Preceding him in death were his father, January 1, 1935, and his mother on May 5, 1935, and also a brother and sister, who died in infancy. Besides his children and wife, he is survived by four brothers, Albert of Jackson, Minn., Theodore of Sisseton, S.D., Henry of West Fargo, N.D., and Annie of Dazey, N.D. Also 9 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 1 at the Larson funeral home in Thompson and at the Lutheran church at 2 o'clock, with Rev. J.J. Skarpness officiating. Rev. A.M. Mannes, brother of the deceased, spoke briefly on behalf of the family. A duet contributed five songs, two at the home and three at the church, some of his favorite hymns.
