Military Rites Held for Arthur Rake

Graveside services were held for Arthur O. Rake of Albert Lea, Minn., at the West cemetery, Wednesday afternoon. The Rake American Legion post was in charge of the military services.

Active pallbearers were Earnie Halvorson, Melvin Kallestad, Gerald Lund, Alwin Erdahl, Maynard Jacobson and Jerome Halvorson. Pastor A.R.H. Johnson of Albert Lea, Minn., officiated. Services were held at Bonnerup funeral home in Albert Lea.

Arthur Oliver Rake was born March 3, 1911 to Theodore and Nora Rake in Rake, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was in the U.S. Navy.

He passed away Saturday, September 10th at Albert Lea from a heart attack at the age of 44 years. He leaves to mourn his death his father, Theodore Rake of Coulter, one sister, Mrs. Arthur Yahnke (Myrtle) of Albert Lea, a brother-in-law, Arthur Yahnke, and two nieces and many other relatives.

Additional info:

The U.S. Naval Air Station at Corpus Christi, Texas, sends the news release that Arthur O. Rake is now at that station and following a period of indoctrination, will be assigned to the duties of his rating. The “University of the Air” is the largest naval air station in the world.
