Regina Danger
(February 10, 1918 - October 2, 2010)

Regina P. Danger, age 92, of Buffalo Center, Iowa, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, on Saturday October 2, 2010.

Regina Pearl (Rhubee) Danger was born February 10, 1918, to Frank and Anna (Benda) Rhubee in Coon Rapids, Iowa.

When she was young, the family moved to Buffalo Center, Iowa, where she attended Combs Country School. She liked to share fond memories of her country school friends and her fun times on the farm with her brothers and sisters. She had to grow tough to hold her own with four brothers around.

She married Floyd Danger on November 27, 1936, at the church parsonage. They farmed for many years by Thompson and at retirement moved to Buffalo Center. She enjoyed farming, raising livestock, and tending a garden. She always had a large garden or two on the farm and would pick strawberries, raspberries, and vegetables most days. Chickens were a priority, and she was very careful about who she let pick the eggs. She was known to throw a 5 gallon pail better than anyone when she got mad. As they grew older, Elmer and Regina, spent lots of time together. He’d bring fish for her to cook, and then, they’d play 500.

She dearly loved the dogs she had over the years as they gave her lots of comfort and companionship. She liked reciting all their names to her great-grandsons. In her later years, she stayed busy playing cards, completing word search books, baking, and making her favorite kitchen scratchers.

She was a long-time member of the Thompson United Methodist Church. She served at the church especially with the UMW. She looked forward to faithfully working the church stand at the fair every summer.

Regina is survived by her son Douglas of Rake and his friend Colleen Elwood; two granddaughters: Pamela and her husband Dr. David Eaton of Long Grove, Iowa and Julie and her husband Darrin Jensen of Elmore, Minnesota; five great grandsons: Wyatt and Cordell Eaton and Derek, Drew and Luke Jensen; and by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1993, her daughter-in-law Grace Danger; her brothers: Charles, Albert, Frank Jr., Kenneth, and Elmer Rhubee; and her sisters Emma Smouse, Julia Langerman, Carrie Severtson, Tillie Curtis-Perry and Rose Bohl.

Her favorite pastime was playing cards with family and friends. She always felt extremely blessed to be able to play games and put puzzles together with her great grandsons.

Funeral Services for Regina will be Wednesday October 6, 2010, at 10:00AM at the Thompson United Methodist Church in Thompson, Iowa, with Pastor Shannon Pascual officiating. Friends and Family may attend her visitation on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at the Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center, Iowa, from 6 to 8 PM. Burial will be at Olena Mound Cemetery in Buffalo Center, Iowa.
