(June 24, 1973 - October 10, 2010)

Thomas E. “Tom” Christianson, age 37, of 50840 Apple Avenue, died Sunday, October 10, 2010, at his home south of Emmons, Minnesota.

Thomas Edward Christianson was born on June 24, 1973, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Clarence “Kelly” and Dorothy (Knudtson) Christianson. He was baptized on July 15, 1973, and was confirmed in May of 1988, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Scarville where Tom was a lifelong member.

He attended and graduated from Lake Mills High School with the Class of 1991. Tom went on to attend Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls. Following his schooling, he began a career in construction, eventually owning his own business, Christianson Construction.

On September 29, 2007, Tom was united in marriage with Jody Estes at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The couple made their home south of Emmons with their two adorable children, Carys and Carter.

In his earlier years, Tom enjoyed fishing with his dad. He spent time attending auctions with his brother Jay, loved poker with his friends, and was proud to be a member of the Sons of the American Legion.

Those left behind are his wife, Jody, and children, Carys and Carter, of rural Lake Mills; mother, Dorothy Christianson, of Lake Mills; mother-and father-in-law, Linda and Mike Estes, of Albert Lea, Minnesota; and siblings, Greg (Joyce) Christianson of Baxter, Iowa, Leon (Jane) Christianson, of Lake Mills, Joel (Marlys) Christianson, of Lake Mills, Eric (Kathy) Christianson, of Lake Mills, and Jay (Kara) Christianson, of Wells, Minnesota. Tom is also survived by brothers- and sisters-in law, Tim Penny of Owatonna, Minnesota, James Estes of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Michelle Estes of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Thomas (Tammy) Estes of Northwood, Iowa, and Mat (Bre Sorensen) Estes of Albert Lea, Minnesota; his wife Jody’s grandmother, Shirley Berg, of Scarville, Iowa; and many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his dad Clarence “Kelly” Christianson; and sister, Barb Penny.

Funeral services will be on 1:30 PM on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Scarville, Iowa, with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating. Burial will take place in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Scarville.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
