Mente Asmus
[August 26, 1894]* - September 16, 1951

Funeral services for Mente Asmus, 57, Rake businessman, will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Mrs. Kate Mauss home and at 2 p.m. at the Liberty Lutheran church. He died Sunday [September 16, 1951] at a hospital in Rochester, Minn., where he had been a patient two weeks. Mr. Asmus was born and raised in this community and farmed east of Rake until two years ago when he sold the farm and purchased the Anderson Department Store at Rake, which he was operating at the time of his death.

Survivors are his wife and 5 sons, twin boys Marlyn and Merlyn of Rake, Pvt. Robert Asmus of Camp Chaffee, Ark., and Howard and Larry at home, a daughter-in-law and one grandson; 3 brothers, Lappe and Gretus Asmus of Bricelyn, and Henry Asmus of Rake, and one sister, Mrs. Oscar Matson of Bricelyn.
