Forest City

Jasper N. Smith, 88, of Forest City, died Wednesday (Sept. 18, 1985) at the Forest City Hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church, Forest City, with Rev. Douglas Daomaokos officiating. Burial will be in Madison Township, Cemetery here.

Visitation is after 1 p.m. today at the Petersen Funeral Home, Forest City, and at the church before the service Saturday.

Born Aug. 23, 1897, in Kansas City, Mo.he was the son of William and Louisa Smith.
Mr. Smith lived most of his adult life in Clinton,where he worked for the Pillsbury Co. He was in the service from Aug. 29, 1942, to March 8, 1943, stationed at Camp Butner, N.C.

On July 31, 1943, he married Gertrude Anderson, who died in 1964.
On Nov. 14, 1971, he married Hazel Holcomb.
They lived in Forest City, where they attended the Calvary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel,Forest City, one sister, Sarah Castle, Charles City; six step-daughters, Mrs. Gary (Diane) Smidt and Mrs William (Mildred) Quick, both of Clinton.
Mrs Roy (Geneva) Merchant of Forest City; Mrs. Orville (Fern) Johnson and Mrs Gordon (Ila Jean)
Oudekerk, both of Dougherty, and Mrs Ralph (Myrna)Oudekerk of Forest City, 24 step-grandchildren and many step great-grandchildren.
