McDermott

MCDERMOTT, PRESSLER, MOONEY, DOUGHERTY, HOGAN

I am searching for any information on two McDermott brothers and their families. John McDermott was born in 1833 in Pennsylvania. His family came to Dubuque County when he was very young. By 1860 he had moved to Webster County. He married Mary Turner and they had the following children: Priscilla (married Michael Dougherty?), Rosa (married Charles Pressler?), Francis, Ellen (married James Mooney?), and Mary. John died in 1869. His wife remarried Michael Hogan who died a few years later. They had two children, John and Margaret Hogan. Mary died in 1882.

Ambrose McDermott was born in 1842 in Dubuque County, Iowa. He moved to Webster County between 1860 and 1870. He married Bridget Lahiff in 1869. They had the following children: William, Mathias, Katherine and another baby. Ambrose died in 1912 and Bridget died in 1913.

Both McDermott brothers are buried in Ft. Dodge. I would appreciate any information and help that anyone can give. A McDermott family reunion is being planned for June in Dubuque County. Any descendants would be welcome and we would welcome anything that could be shared about these families.
