I am also searching for info on an orphanage in the Fort Dodge area. My Grandma Doris, and her two siblings, Cyril and Helen Newkirk were also placed in an orphanage as young children. I have never known its name, and just assume it was in Fort Dodge. The kids were born in Lehigh, and my Grandma met my Grandpa, Henry "Hank" Knutson, while she was there, and they married in Fort Dodge, where my father was born to them. My Grandma would probably have been there before your grandfather, as she was born in 1912. Your query is the first I've ever seen a reference to an orphanage in that area. Please, if you gain any info at all, I would be very interested. Likewise, if I ever find anything, I would share it with you. Thanks! And good luck to us both : )
