DEATH OF MRS. JAMES HALE
The Ames Times - Tusday March 14, 1912

Lucy Ann Hale was born in Gloucestershire, England, November 25th, 1831. She was united in marriage to James Hale, August 7th, 1853 and died at her home in Ames, March 8th, 1912 at the age of 80 years, 3 months and 13 days. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Miriam Hale and Mrs. A. C. Heath of Fort Dodge; also six sons all of whom were present but one. They are R. W. Hale and J. I. Hale of Fort Dodge, T. J. Hale of Iowa Falls, Andrew and Aaron Hale of Rhodes, and W. W. Hale of New York city who was unable to be present.

The funeral services were held at the residence at 213 East Fifth street at 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon March 10th, conducted by Rev. W. J. Minchin of the Congreational church.

The remains were taken to Fort Dodge for interment on the early morning train Monday where a short service was held at the residence of J. I. Hale, 511 South Eighteenth street.

Mrs. Hale united with the Methodist church at the early age of 15 years, and later with the Presbyterian church. She was a thorough Christian and a constant reader of the Bible until death overtook her.

Will Be Held at Sons' Residence This Afternoon

Mrs. Lucy Anne Hale, who died Friday at Ames will be brought here on the interurban at 3:00 this afternoon and funeral services are to be held at the residence of her son, J. R. Hale, 511 South Eighteenth street at 3:30. Dr. E. E. Hastings conducting the services. Interment will be made in Oakland cemetery.

Mrs. Lucy Anne Hale was born in Gloucestershire, England, November 25, 1831. Twenty-two years later on August 7th, she was united in marriage to James Hale. To this union were born six sons: R. W. Hale and J. R. Hale of Fort Dodge; T. J. Hale of Iowa Falls; Andy Hale and Aaron Hale of Rhoades, Iowa, and A. S. Hale of New York City; and two daughters, Mrs. A. C. Heath of Fort Dodge and Miss Miriam Hale of Ames. The husband, James Hale, is still living.

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at Ames, Rev. W. J. Minchin, of the Congregational church of that city officiating. With the exception of A. S. Hale, all the children will be in the city for the services this afternoon. The five sons who will be present and the son-in-law, A. C. Heath will act as bearers.

When fifteen years of age Mrs. Hale united with the Methodist church and later joined the Presbyterian church. She was until her death a devout members and a devoted student of the Bible. She was 80 years of age.
