Thursday, September 28, 2006Cathryn M. Powers, 82, Duncombe, died Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at Hamilton Hospital in Webster City.
Funeral services will be 9:45 a.m. Friday, September 29th in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Duncombe with Rev. Edward Girres officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Duncombe. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home where there will be a vigil at 7 p.m.
Surviving are her sons, Tom of Webster City, Patrick of Webster City; daughters, Joan Hisler of Duncombe, Susan Moss of Clarion; 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol Brandt of Duncombe, Ruth Ball of Duncombe and Pearl Kaufman of Fort Dodge. Cathryn was preceded in death by her parents Dwight and Lula (Schoonover) Royster; her husband William "Pat"; an infant son John; a sister Dorothy; and brothers Dean and Chuck.
Cathryn M. Royster was born March 28, 1924 on the family farm near Brushy. She attended the rural schools and Duncombe schools. On November 14, 1942 she was united in marriage to William "Pat" Powers in Augusta, GA and they established their home in Duncombe. She was a homemaker and also assisted her husband with the farming operation.
Her memberships included the Duncombe American Legion Auxiliary and St. Joseph's Altar Society. She was also a board member at the Duncombe Retirement Apartments.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
