August 13, 2012Kenneth Ray Norman, 74, passed away at the VA Hospital in Des Moines on August 11, 2012. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 14 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with burial at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Ken was born December 5, 1937 in Denver, CO to Fred and Corinne Norman. He was united in marriage to Virginia Semmel June 26, 1960 in Woodward, OK and were blessed with two children, David and Dena.
He attended, Fargo and Tangier Schools in Oklahoma, Oklahoma City University receiving his BIA Degree, John Carroll University receiving his MA Degree, and Iowa State University completing all but one requirement for his Ph.D. Kenneth entered the U.S. Navy in October 1955. From January 1959 to May 1982, he was a member of the U.S. Naval Reserves, retiring at the rank of CWO-4. From 1970 to 1981 he taught Industrial Electronics at ICCC in Fort Dodge.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia of Fort Dodge; son, David (Martha) of Fort Dodge, daughter, Dena (Joe) Borszich of Longmont, CO; granddaughters, Melissa Norman, Jenna and Alli Borszich; step-father, Lloyd Poe of Fargo, OK; sister-in-law Norma (Ronnie) Vanderslice of Woodward, OK and Barbara (Dale) Milton of Fargo, OK and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Carolyn and Elmer Yauk.
