Denise Flattery, 89, long-time Vincent resident passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Trinity Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be at Sacred Heart Church, with Msgr. Gregory Kelly, of Dallas, TX officiating. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be Monday after 4:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. and a vigil to follow.
Denise is survived by her daughter, Mary (Jim) Greteman of Carroll; sons, Michael (Jeanie) of West Des Moines; Joe (Teresa) of Lincoln, NE; Terry (Jean); Dan (Roxie); Dave (Debbie) all of Fort Dodge; 26 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Tim (Marion) Kelly of Dallas, TX and sister-in-law, Marilean Kelly of Colorado Springs, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Marie (LeMire) Kelly; husband, Maurice; two infant sons; sisters, Leeila Loughlin; Genevieve Cripe; Mary Ann Eckerman; and brother, John Kelly.
Denise Marie Kelly was born October 25, 1923 at the family farm between Vincent and Eagle Grove. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1941. She then attended Tobin Business College and became employed at the Boston Store.
On April 16, 1947 she was united in marriage to Maurice Flattery at St. Joseph's Church in Duncombe. The couple made their home near Vincent, where they farmed their entire life. She was employed part-time as a cook at the Vincent School. Denise was active at St. John's Catholic Church Guild, Hobby Club, and 500 Card Club. She was an avid sports fan of the St. Edmond Gaels. Denise will be remembered for her deep faith and her life of Christian service. ~ The Des Moines Register, Des Moines, Iowa Mon 15 July 2013.
